Raspberry Pi Foundation is expanding its Experience AI program across Latin America, backed by $4.6 million in funding from Google.org.
The initiative aims to train 24,000 educators and reach 1.25 million students by 2028, working with partners across Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Mexico, Peru, and Uruguay. The rollout extends an existing program focused on introducing students to how AI systems work and how they are applied in real-world contexts.
Regional rollout through partner networks
The expansion will be delivered through a network of local education partners, using a train-the-trainer model to support teacher development at scale.
The Raspberry Pi Foundation says it will “help young people build the skills, knowledge, and confidence to understand and shape a world with AI - from how it works to its real-world impact.”
The Experience AI program, developed with Google DeepMind, provides free classroom resources, including lesson plans, activities, and teaching materials designed for use across subjects and settings.
Focus on AI literacy and critical understanding
The program introduces students to core AI concepts, including how data is used in AI systems, how to identify AI-generated misinformation, and how to use generative AI tools responsibly.
It also includes opportunities for students to build their own AI applications, alongside structured lessons that explore the social and ethical implications of AI technologies.
The Foundation states that young people need “more than access to AI tools: they need the knowledge, skills, and confidence to understand and create their own AI tools.”
The expansion builds on the program’s existing footprint, which has reached an estimated 2.9 million young people and trained 30,000 educators globally. Experience AI resources are currently used in more than 180 countries and available in 19 languages.
The program was also named a laureate of the 2025 UNESCO King Hamad Bin Isa Al-Khalifa Prize for the Use of ICT in Education.
