WorldQuant partners with Equity Group Foundation to boost African quantitative education
WorldQuant University and Equity Group Foundation have signed an agreement to collaborate on quantitative education programs in East and Central Africa, setting a framework for joint planning, progress reviews, and information sharing.

WorldQuant University, a U.S.-based not-for-profit institution providing free, accredited programs in financial engineering and data science, has formed a partnership with Equity Group Foundation to increase access to quantitative education across East and Central Africa.
The agreement, signed on September 25, 2025, establishes cooperation in technical information sharing, progress tracking, and program development to improve student access and technical skill-building in the region.
The collaboration follows WorldQuant University’s recent partnership with Sazience Technology to launch the Sazience & WorldQuant University Learning Academy, an initiative developing Africa’s next generation of AI and data science professionals.
Education and leadership at the center of the collaboration
Equity Group Foundation works to improve access to education for academically talented but financially disadvantaged students. The partnership aligns with its goal of building leadership and social mobility through learning.
“Through this partnership, we are uniting our strengths to empower African youth with the knowledge and skills needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving global economy,” says Dr. James Mwangi, Executive Chairman of Equity Group Foundation. “By combining EGF’s expertise in transformative education programs with WQU’s innovative approach to quantitative learning, we are creating pathways for young leaders to drive meaningful change in their communities.”
“This partnership represents a bold step toward making advanced education accessible to talented learners who might otherwise face barriers,” notes John Endrud, CEO of WorldQuant University. “Together with EGF, we are committed to fostering a new generation of leaders equipped with cutting-edge quantitative skills to address global challenges.”
WorldQuant University’s model emphasizes real-world application, linking classroom learning with professional practice. Gbemi Disu, Senior Vice President of Global Partnerships at WorldQuant University, comments, “We are thrilled to partner with EGF to amplify the impact of education across Africa. This collaboration will enable us to deliver innovative educational solutions that empower learners and create lasting impact.”
