WorldQuant University and Sazience Technology launch academy to train Africa’s AI talent
New initiative aims to expand access to applied education in AI and data science across Africa, announced in LinkedIn posts by WorldQuant University and Sazience Technology.
WorldQuant University (WQU) has partnered with Sazience Technology to launch the Sazience & WorldQuant University Learning Academy, an initiative designed to build Africa’s next generation of AI and data science professionals.
WQU is a U.S.-based not-for-profit accredited by the Distance Education Accrediting Commission (DEAC). It provides free online programs in financial engineering and data science to students in over 190 countries. Sazience Technology focuses on digital transformation and talent development across the Middle East and Africa.
Focus on applied skills and regional impact
In its LinkedIn post, WQU wrote: “We’re proud to announce the launch of the Sazience & WorldQuant University Learning Academy, a transformative initiative designed to empower Africa’s next generation of AI and data science leaders. Through this collaboration with Sazience Technology, WorldQuant University is expanding access to world-class, applied education—equipping talented professionals across the continent with the skills to drive innovation and solve real-world challenges.”
Sazience Technology highlighted the academy’s mission in a separate LinkedIn post: “The Academy is built to be a launchpad for Africa’s brightest minds in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science — developing professionals who will design, build, and lead solutions to the continent’s most pressing challenges.”
First student cohort
According to Sazience Technology, the inaugural cohort includes students from a range of STEM and engineering backgrounds, such as biomedical engineering, embedded systems, computer science, and applied AI. The program is supported by international partners including Qintess.
Sazience Technology concluded: “This is more than a training program. It is the beginning of a movement — one that places Africa at the center of global conversations on AI, innovation, and digital transformation.”

Winners will be announced on 14 January 2026 as part of an online showcase featuring expert commentary on emerging trends and standout innovation. All winners and finalists will also be featured in our first print magazine, to be distributed at BETT 2026.
