Roblox launches new Youth Guide to Community Standards for its younger users

Roblox has announced plans to promote the safe use of digital technologies for children, teens and young adults with new resources available in its Safety Center, including a new Youth Guide to Community Standards aimed at its younger users.

Developed in partnership with Roblox’s Teen Council and attendees at the Digital Wellness Lab’s Amplify Youth summit, the guide is designed to be digestible for younger users. It explains how to stay safe and remain civil online.

One Teen Council member, Hannah, comments: “The best way to reduce the number of rule-breakers on a platform is to have everyone, at any reading level, equally understand what they are allowed to do and what they aren’t.”

Alex, another Teen Council member, adds: “On a platform with people of different ages and backgrounds, it’s crucial that everyone understands the rules and what’s expected of them. The redesign makes the Community Standards much easier to understand and follow.”

The launch follows recent updates to Roblox’s Community Standards, Civility and Transparency policies, giving clearer advice and information and was announced to coincide with Safer Internet Day 2026.

Roblox joins Thrive

Roblox says it has also partnered with the Mental Health Coalition to join its Thrive program. The scheme helps online platforms share privacy-protected information to prevent suicide and self-harm. It uses signals rather than user data in a unified system that helps its members respond faster to harmful content, such as self-harm, suicide, or eating disorder related posts.

Together, Thrive’s members can investigate content quickly, helping to stop its spread before it reaches more users.

In a statement, Roblox said: “We’re proud to be part of this global discussion around online safety and how Roblox can continue this work with parents, experts, and industry partners to help keep children safe online. To learn more this Safer Internet Day, please visit our Civility Site for useful advice and resources from our partners. Our Parent & Caregiver Guide has useful information for parents, including how to link their account to their child’s to set parental controls.”
