Quizlet moves assignments and progress tracking inside Google Classroom
The add-on lets teachers use Quizlet activities within existing class workflows, but access requires Google Workspace for Education Plus.
Quizlet’s Google Classroom add-on lets teachers assign activities and monitor student engagement within the same workflow
Quizlet has introduced a Google Classroom add-on that allows educators to find, create, assign and monitor study activities within Google's classroom management platform.
The integration is available through the Google Workspace Marketplace and requires Google Workspace for Education Plus. Schools may also need an IT administrator to approve the add-on before teachers can use it.
Educators can assign Quizlet practice questions, flashcards and interactive games directly through Google Classroom. Activities can be used as lesson starters, in-class exercises, homework or independent study resources.
Teachers can also track engagement and monitor student progress within Google Classroom, reducing the need to switch between the two platforms when creating and reviewing assignments.
Quizlet said the integration was developed in response to changes in how educators use its platform and assign work as more AI-powered resources are added to teaching workflows.
Quizlet activities added to existing class workflows
The add-on places Quizlet's assignment tools inside the Google Classroom interface used by teachers to organize classes, communicate with students and manage coursework.
Kurt Beidler, chief executive officer of Quizlet, wrote on LinkedIn:
"Our new Google Classroom add-on reduces the friction of navigating between multiple tools and creates a more connected teaching experience. Educators can now discover, create, assign, and monitor Quizlet activities without leaving Google Classroom (add-on requires Google Workspace for Education Plus)."
Teachers can search for existing Quizlet materials or create activities before assigning them to a class. Quizlet said the integration removes additional login steps and reduces the number of tabs educators need to use during lesson planning and delivery.
The available activity formats include practice questions, digital flashcards and interactive games. Quizlet suggested teachers could use them for bell ringers, brain breaks, classroom games, homework and revision.
Access depends on Google Workspace subscription
The Quizlet add-on is limited to institutions using Google Workspace for Education Plus, rather than being available across every Google Workspace for Education tier.
Educators with the required subscription can connect Quizlet through the Google Workspace Marketplace. Where schools restrict third-party applications, teachers will need their administrator to grant permission.
The add-on is available now, with Quizlet also providing a help center guide and instructional video covering how to assign activities through Google Classroom.
