Originality.ai launches advanced Moodle plugin to support AI and plagiarism detection with 99 percent accuracy

Originality.ai, an AI content detector and plagiarism checker, has launched Moodle Plugin 2.0, offering advanced detection integrated into Moodle’s core modules.

Originality.ai says the new plugin arrives amid increasing concerns around the verification of authentic work, thanks to the popularity of generative AI platforms amongst students. It claims its software offers 99 percent accuracy in detecting AI-generated content and 99.5 percent accuracy in detecting plagiarised text.

The Moodle plugin supports 30 languages, including Arabic, Spanish, German and Chinese and it can be used with Moodle’s assignment, quiz and forum modules. Students can be granted access to view their own scan reports.

"Our new Moodle plugin gives teachers and education institutions the tools to verify authentic work and protect academic integrity," says Jon Gillham, Founder at Originality.ai.

The news follows shortly after Turnitin launched AI bypasser detection to tackle humanizer tools in academic writing. The feature is available as part of Turnitin’s academic integrity toolkit used by institutions for originality checking, feedback, and assessment workflows.
