Loughborough University partners with British Esports to strengthen standards in esports
British Esports and Loughborough University have signed a Memorandum of Understanding, aiming to strengthen professional standards, education and training across the esports ecosystem.
The two organizations plan to support effective leadership and best practices in esports at national and international levels. They will also develop professional standards across all stages, including at elite performance levels and talent pathways.
The partnership will also see the two organizations create new education and training programs and support the development of new esports facilities.
Loughborough University will expand its esports provision with a new Esports Gaming Lab, including 40 high-spec gaming machines. The partnership will also extend the impact of British Esports’ National Esports Performance Campus in Sunderland and network of education providers.
“This collaboration reflects Loughborough’s ambition to play a leading role in the future of esports, building on our global reputation for excellence in sport, education and research,” explains Professor Jo Maher, Pro Vice-Chancellor for Sport at Loughborough University.
“By working closely with the British Esports Federation, we can help shape high-quality pathways, professional standards and inclusive opportunities across the esports ecosystem.”
The university acts as a hub for high-performance sports in the UK, coaching athletes and coaches who received a total of 35 medals at the 2024 Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Chester King, British Esports President, adds: “We’re delighted to be working with Loughborough University. This partnership further strengthens the UK’s position as a global leader in esports education, safeguarding and talent development.
