Babbel launches Babbel Speak, an AI-powered voice trainer aiming to help language learners build confidence

Babbel has announced the launch of Babbel Speak, an AI-powered voice feature that aims to help language learners develop confidence in speaking with real-life scenarios.

The app says the new tool can reduce anxiety around speaking a new language and creates a safe space for practice.

“We don’t promise to take learners from zero to fluent overnight – we guide them from first words to confident conversations”, says Tim Allen, CEO at Babbel. “As a learner myself, I know well how hard it is to start a conversation in a new language. Most apps stop at vocabulary. We go further helping users speak their first words without pressure or confusion.”

Babbel Speak includes animations and clear visual clues to support conversations and its calm interface is designed to reduce cognitive load, making speaking easier.

Babbel Speak is currently available in Beta for subscribers learning English, Spanish, French, Italian, and German.

“Developing Babbel Speak, we needed to carefully strike the balance between overwhelming learners with complete conversational freedom and intimidating them with challenging tasks”, adds Franz Ardito, Principal Product Manager at Babbel.

“We achieved this in close collaboration between our language experts and AI teams, with pedagogy defining how learners progress through the scenarios while AI handles the natural conversational flow and personalized responses.”

Inter Miami CF, a Major League Soccer team with players from more than 15 countries, has been using Babbel to bring their team together.

“Babbel has given our diverse team the tools to communicate more effectively and confidently, promoting understanding and fostering stronger relationships throughout our Club,” explains Kaitlyn Stolzenberg, Senior Director of Human Resources at Inter Miami CF.
