OpenAI rolls out new ChatGPT workspace analytics for Enterprise and Edu users
OpenAI has introduced an upgraded Workspace Analytics experience for ChatGPT Enterprise and ChatGPT Edu, giving administrators and organizational leaders new tools to track adoption, engagement, and usage trends across their AI deployments.
The company announced the update on LinkedIn, saying the new analytics dashboard is designed to help organizations understand how ChatGPT usage is developing across teams and identify where additional training or enablement may be needed.
The rollout reflects growing demand from schools, universities, and enterprises for clearer data on how generative AI tools are being used inside organizations.
New analytics dashboard tracks AI adoption
The updated Workspace Analytics dashboard provides a high-level view of ChatGPT activity across an organization, including seat allocation, activation rates, weekly active users, and usage trends over time.
Administrators can compare seats purchased, seats enabled for users, and seats activated to see whether access is translating into real usage.
Other metrics include weekly active users and “power users,” defined as the top twenty percent of users by message activity who use three or more ChatGPT tools.
The dashboard also includes benchmarks that allow organizations to compare adoption patterns with peers in similar industries.
Task insights and deeper usage analysis
The new experience introduces a feature called Task Insights, which groups ChatGPT activity into categories based on the types of work being carried out.
Organizations can also view usage breakdowns by model, tool, and connected applications, helping teams understand which features are gaining traction.
OpenAI says the dashboard is intended to help leaders move from high-level usage reporting to more targeted analysis of where AI adoption is succeeding and where additional support may be needed.
To support broader reporting inside organizations, OpenAI has also introduced a new Analytics Viewer role that provides read-only access to workspace analytics. This allows department leaders, AI champions, and program managers to review usage data without granting full administrative permissions.
Privacy-focused analytics design
OpenAI says the analytics system is designed to protect user privacy by presenting only aggregated usage data.
Administrators cannot see individual prompts, conversations, or message content within the analytics dashboard.
Instead, the system focuses on organization-level trends, helping leaders understand how access to ChatGPT translates into regular usage and deeper workflow adoption over time. The update also allows organizations to export certain analytics data for further analysis, including reports covering users, GPTs, and projects.
OpenAI positions the analytics tools as a way for organizations to monitor AI adoption and identify repeatable workflows that could be expanded across teams.
