Raspberry Pi Foundation expands Experience AI network with Sri Lanka partnership

STEMUp Educational Foundation joins the Raspberry Pi Foundation’s Experience AI initiative, bringing AI literacy resources and teacher training to educators and students in Sri Lanka.

The Raspberry Pi Foundation has added Sri Lanka nonprofit STEMUp Educational Foundation to its global Experience AI partner network, expanding the initiative’s reach in South Asia and supporting the delivery of artificial intelligence education resources to teachers and students.

The partnership, announced by the Raspberry Pi Foundation on LinkedIn, will see STEMUp Educational Foundation help introduce Experience AI materials and training to educators in Sri Lanka, with the aim of strengthening AI literacy and supporting classroom teaching.

STEMUp Educational Foundation is a nonprofit organization that works to encourage students to pursue science, technology, engineering, and mathematics education and careers. Its programs provide STEM learning opportunities and resources across South Asia, many of which are offered free of charge.

Experience AI program expands through global partners

Experience AI is an education program developed by the Raspberry Pi Foundation in collaboration with Google DeepMind. The initiative provides free resources to help students aged 11–14 learn how artificial intelligence and machine learning systems work.

The program includes classroom lessons designed for secondary school environments, with materials such as lesson plans, slide decks, worksheets, and videos that teachers can use to introduce AI topics.

According to the Raspberry Pi Foundation, understanding AI technologies is becoming increasingly important as tools such as search engines, recommendation systems, chatbots, and image generation platforms become part of everyday digital life.

Experience AI also includes a three-week online course called Understanding AI for educators, which introduces teachers and youth mentors to the practical uses of AI tools and explores how artificial intelligence may influence education and the future of work.

Participants test AI tools directly and examine the opportunities, risks, and ethical considerations linked to artificial intelligence. In addition to structured lessons, the program offers an open-ended student challenge where young people design their own AI applications using machine learning models they have trained.

Supporting AI literacy in new regions

The Experience AI initiative relies on partnerships with education organizations that can localize resources, translate materials, and provide training for teachers in their countries.

By joining the network, STEMUp Educational Foundation will support the introduction of Experience AI resources in Sri Lanka and contribute to the program’s broader goal of expanding AI literacy among young people worldwide.

The Raspberry Pi Foundation says building a global network of partners allows the program to adapt its resources to local education systems while increasing access to AI learning opportunities.
