Google is recruiting for two senior partnership roles focused on expanding the adoption of Gemini for Education across higher education institutions, NGOs, and EdTech partners.

The hires signal a significant strategic push to establish Gemini as the dominant AI platform in academic and research settings.

Marta McAlister, Director of Gemini for Education at Google, flagged the openings on LinkedIn, while Alisa Sommer O'Hara, who works on Google's Learning and Education partnerships team, wrote: "We are continuing to expand the Google Learning and Education partnerships team! Come join us to lead our work with Higher Education institutions, NGOs, EdTechs and others in the ecosystem!"

Two roles targeting universities and the EdTech ecosystem

The first position, Strategic Partner Development Lead, Education, is based across New York, Mountain View, Los Angeles, or San Francisco, with a base salary range of $141,000 to $204,000. The role requires at least seven years of experience in partnerships, business development, management consulting, or investment banking, with a background in education or EdTech. Candidates must also have at least two years of direct experience working with higher education institutions.

The second position, Strategic Partner Development Principal Lead, Education, is a more senior role carrying a base salary range of $177,000 to $256,000 and requiring a minimum of ten years of relevant experience. This role has a specific focus on Read Along, Learning Management System integrations, and teacher adoption programs, and is expected to establish strategic partnerships with five lighthouse academic institutions.

Both roles sit within Google's Global Partnerships organization and require experience working with C-level executives across complex, cross-functional environments.

Gemini for Education at the center of Google's academic strategy

The job descriptions make clear that driving Gemini adoption is the primary objective of both roles. Candidates will be expected to build and execute partnership strategies that result in meaningful use of Gemini for teaching, learning, and research, and to act as a voice feeding partner insights back into Google's product roadmap.

The Principal Lead role also tasks the hire with unifying partnership and sales strategies across Gemini for Education, Google Cloud, and Research to present a single, cohesive offering to university partners. Responsibilities include negotiating agreements covering AI Studio, Gemma, and other AI products and services with higher education institutions.

For EdTech companies, universities, and research organizations already operating in the Google ecosystem, these appointments will shape how Gemini integrates with existing tools and how AI capabilities are embedded into the student and faculty experience over the coming years.
