ChatGPT for Education rolls out QuizGPT to let students create flashcards from notes and lectures

OpenAI has expanded ChatGPT’s education tools with QuizGPT, a flashcard feature that enables students to test themselves directly in the app.
The feature, announced in a LinkedIn post by ChatGPT for Education, allows users to request a quiz “with QuizGPT” on any subject or from their own uploaded lecture notes and slides. QuizGPT creates interactive flashcards that hide answers until students flip them, using retrieval practice methods widely recognized in learning science to strengthen memory and recall.
QuizGPT is available to all ChatGPT users at no additional cost. The feature works on desktop and mobile, though availability on mobile may require updating the app. ChatGPT for Education noted: “If you don't see it initially on mobile, try updating your app in the App Store.”
The tool also supports uploads of documents such as PDFs, slides, or text files, making it adaptable to specific classes and curricula. Students can be quizzed on their own material rather than relying solely on general prompts.
Announcing the update, ChatGPT for Education wrote on LinkedIn: “You can now make flashcards inside ChatGPT with QuizGPT. Ask Chat to quiz you ‘with quizgpt’ on any topic, and get interactive flashcards to strengthen recall and boost confidence before exams. You can even upload lecture slides or class notes to get tested on.”
