Casio America announces retirement of Jim Gross, General Manager of Education Technology, after 28 years

Casio America, an electronics manufacturer, has announced the retirement of Jim Gross, General Manager of Education Technology.

After more than 28 years with Casio, Gross will retire at the end of September having “bought smart tools into classrooms”.

Gross began his career at Casio in digital imaging before leading the Education Technology Division. He oversaw strategy, partnerships, and product innovation for Casio’s range of calculators.

This included the launch of Casio’s fx-9750 series, the fx-991CW, and the new CG-100 graphing calculator. He also played “a pivotal role” in developing Casio’s first educational software - ClassPad.net.

"Jim has been instrumental in shaping Casio's role in education," says Yusuke Suzuki, President and CEO at Casio America. "His leadership has not only advanced our technology but also strengthened our connections with educators and classrooms across the country. His contributions will have a lasting impact on the teachers and students who rely on our tools every day. We are deeply grateful for his service and wish him the best in retirement."

"I've had the privilege of leading Casio's Education Technology Division for nearly three decades, helping bring smart tools into classrooms and making a real difference for teachers and students,” Gross adds.

“It has been the honor of my career to work alongside educators, associations, and colleagues to make technology meaningful in classrooms. I'm especially proud of the lasting partnerships we built with teachers and the innovative tools we introduced. As I step into this next chapter, I do so with deep gratitude for the people who made this journey possible."

Earlier this year, Casio named Marko Wityk as its new Senior General Manager and Tetsuya ‘Yo’ Yonehara as Deputy Senior General Manager in its EdTech department. The two appointments were annoucned as Casio shared a renewed focus on streamlining its calculator portfolio to better serve students from middle school into college.
