BETT 2026: Canva opens first UK higher education student ambassador program

Canva has opened applications for its first UK-based higher education student ambassador program, using BETT 2026 to expand its community-led approach to creativity, design, and AI-supported learning in universities.

Canva has opened applications for a new UK higher education student ambassador initiative, marking its first dedicated program for university and further education students in the country.

The move was shared during BETT 2026 and signals a deeper push by the design platform into student-led learning, peer support, and campus-based communities as digital creativity and AI tools become embedded in higher education.

The announcement was shared on LinkedIn by Gonzalo Diego Rosado Morgan, who leads community growth at Canva, following BETT Global in London. In the post, Morgan said the company was “launching our very first HE Student Ambassador Program here in the UK,” citing growing student demand for Canva tools across universities.

UK student demand drives campus-focused expansion

In his LinkedIn post, Morgan reflected on his experience living in London over the past year, pointing to strong adoption of Canva among university students. He wrote that students were using the platform for “creating standout presentations and portfolios” and for “exploring what’s possible with Canva AI,” adding that Canva was seeing students “bring their ideas to life every day.”

Morgan described the new initiative as “all about empowering more students to learn, create and inspire with Canva,” and confirmed that applications were now open to students across the UK.

The program, branded Gen C, is aimed at higher education and further education students who are already active Canva users and are engaged in creative, community, or peer-learning activities, both online and on campus.

Gen C focuses on peer learning, content, and community building

Gen C student ambassadors will support the Canva community through a mix of content creation, workshops, events, and peer mentoring. Activities include creating tutorials and challenges, moderating community spaces, running learning sessions, and organizing events designed to increase confidence with design and digital tools.

The role is positioned as flexible rather than time-intensive, with students typically contributing a few hours per month. The program is unpaid but offers access to Canva resources, community funding for events, merchandise support through Canva Print, and entry into dedicated UK and global Gen C communities.

The initiative places strong emphasis on peer-led learning and informal skills development, aligning with broader shifts in higher education toward portfolio-based evidence, digital fluency, and community-driven learning models.

Morgan closed his post by encouraging applications from students interested in creativity, design, and community leadership, positioning the program as a way for students to shape how Canva’s education community evolves in the UK.
