Teachmate appoints Daniel Emmerson to advisory group to advance safe AI in education

Teachmate has added Daniel Emmerson as the third member of its Advisory Group, tasked with independent oversight on ethics, safety, and compliance in AI for education.

Teachmate, an education technology company developing AI tools for schools and teachers, has appointed Daniel Emmerson to the Teachmate Advisory Group.

The panel was established to provide external expertise across education, technology, and governance, helping the company shape responsible AI solutions for classrooms.

The group meets three times a year to review progress and advise on long-term development. Teachmate said the panel’s role is to ensure its products remain aligned with teacher needs, safety standards, and ethical AI practices as adoption continues to grow in the education sector.

Emmerson currently serves as Executive Director of the Good Future Foundation, a nonprofit organization focused on bridging the digital divide and helping schools integrate AI responsibly. He has over fourteen years of experience in global education and school leadership.

Alongside his role at the foundation, Emmerson is a Board Director at the Institute of Global Learning and Academic Affairs Lead at Goodnotes, where he works on strategies that use technology to enhance teaching and learning.

Focus on responsible and transparent AI

Emmerson said his appointment reflects a shared goal of building safe, transparent AI systems for education. “I’m glad to be part of the Teachmate Advisory Group because of their clear commitment to responsible use of AI,” he said. “Their focus on data privacy and safeguarding aligns closely with what we are working on at the Good Future Foundation, where getting this right for schools is absolutely critical. My role is to help steer, challenge and support so that implementation is safety-first and schools can trust the tools they use.”

Teachmate said Emmerson’s addition will support its mission to balance innovation with accountability in the use of AI. He joins existing members Laura Knight and Claire Archibald.
