Claire Archibald joins Teachmate Advisory Group to support AI governance in schools
Legal Director at Browne Jacobson LLP brings data protection expertise to Teachmate’s advisory group.

A LinkedIn post from Teachmate confirmed that Claire Archibald has joined the Teachmate Advisory Group. The company develops AI tools designed to reduce teacher workload.
The advisory group meets three times a year to provide external guidance on education, strategy, technology, and governance. Teachmate recently announced Laura Knight as its first member, with Archibald now the second to be appointed.
The post noted, “Claire is a Legal Director at Browne Jacobson LLP, specialising in data protection and information governance. Previously, she led a Data Protection Officer service for around 400 schools and academies in a local authority setting, giving her a unique understanding of the challenges schools face when adopting new technology.”
Archibald is a solicitor specializing in information law, AI governance, and education. She advises schools and education-sector organizations on compliance and governance and has experience as both a School Business Manager and a Data Protection Officer.
In 2024, she received the Champion of the Year award at the Picasso Europe Awards for her work in data protection.
Role at Teachmate
Archibald says she was impressed with Teachmate’s focus on compliance and user trust when she first engaged with the company. She comments, “I am delighted to be appointed to the Teachmate AI advisory panel. From the moment I met with the team, I was impressed with their genuine passion for the service they provide to teachers and schools. What particularly impressed me was their commitment to developing simple-to-use tools that ensure people’s data is treated exactly as you would want your own data to be treated, with the utmost care and respect.”
She adds that she had already worked with Teachmate to support schools carrying out Data Protection Impact Assessments and due diligence checks, concluding, “I am now looking forward to developing our relationship further and continuing to support Teachmate as they help educators across the UK reduce their workload whilst maintaining the highest standards of data protection and privacy.”
