OpenAI brings GPT-6 models to Google Cloud in new enterprise partnership
GPT-6 Astra, GPT-6.1 Sol and GPT-6 Luna are entering private preview, with further integrations planned for Google Antigravity and Gemini Agent
OpenAI and Google Cloud have announced a partnership bringing OpenAI's frontier models and Codex workflows into Google's enterprise AI platform
OpenAI and Google Cloud have announced a partnership that will make OpenAI's frontier AI models available directly through Google Cloud, allowing enterprise customers to access GPT-6 models within Google's existing cloud infrastructure and development tools.
The the agreement brings GPT-6 Astra, GPT-6.1 Sol and GPT-6 Luna into Google Cloud's Model Garden, alongside OpenAI's Codex agentic coding workflows. The three models are entering private preview for selected enterprise customers, with general availability planned in the coming weeks.
The partnership will also extend OpenAI model access to Google Antigravity, its AI coding platform, and Gemini Agent, allowing developers and enterprise users to work with models from different providers within Google's ecosystem.
Microsoft remains OpenAI's primary cloud partner.
Google Cloud says the addition makes it the only hyperscale cloud provider offering access to all three leading closed-source large language model families, alongside more than 200 first-party, third-party and open models on a unified enterprise AI platform.
Three OpenAI models added to Google's enterprise platform
The integration gives organizations access to different OpenAI models according to their workload, with Google positioning the arrangement around flexibility in performance, response speed and cost.
The initial selection includes:
GPT-6 Astra, designed for demanding coding, computer use, professional tasks and scientific research.
GPT-6.1 Sol, offering near-Astra intelligence at a lower cost across agentic coding, computer use and professional work.
GPT-6 Luna, a faster, lower-cost option for everyday tasks at scale.
Customers will be able to select and switch between models through Model Garden without establishing separate vendor contracts, according to Google Cloud.
The commercial arrangement also allows OpenAI model usage to be purchased through Google Cloud Marketplace, with charges appearing on a single Google Cloud invoice and counting toward existing cloud spending commitments and Flexible Savings Plans.
Brian Kane, Director of Cloud Partnerships at OpenAI, outlined an additional benefit in a LinkedIn post announcing the agreement:
"This means customers will be able to draw down both their spend commitment with OpenAI and their spend commitment with Google Cloud when using OpenAI on Google Cloud."
Kane leads OpenAI's go-to-market partnership with Google Cloud.
Thomas Kurian, Chief Executive Officer of Google Cloud, says the agreement will expand the range of models businesses can choose from:
"We are focused on giving customers a broad selection of models, including those from OpenAI, so they can choose the right model for any given job, helping to deliver optimal quality and lower costs."
Codex, Antigravity and Gemini Agent integrations expand development options
Developers can already begin using the OpenAI models through Google Cloud's APIs during the private preview, including connecting local Codex CLI and Desktop workflows directly to Google's Gemini platform for inference.
Google plans further integrations with Antigravity and Gemini Agent, extending model choice into AI-assisted software development and enterprise agent workflows.
Google is also positioning its existing security and data governance infrastructure as part of the offering, particularly for organizations working with sensitive information.
According to the company, customer prompts, context and outputs will remain within their designated Google Cloud data perimeter and will not be used to train foundation models. Queries will run through isolated gateways on dedicated Google Cloud infrastructure.
The platform will also provide authenticated identities, centralized access controls and audit logging across agent and model interactions.
Some additional safeguards are still in development, including Zero Data Retention options and Confidential Compute support.
Private preview opens ahead of wider availability
The integration is initially available to selected enterprise customers rather than through a general public rollout.
Google Cloud is accepting expressions of interest for the private preview, while OpenAI has opened a separate access request process. Existing customers can also contact their OpenAI or Google Cloud account managers.
The companies expect general availability in the coming weeks, with the Google Antigravity and Gemini Agent integrations scheduled to follow. No specific dates have been confirmed for those additional releases.
