OpenAI-backed developer meetups and hackathons bring AI builders together in London
A series of AI-focused developer events supported by OpenAI and its partners are taking place in London this month, bringing together engineers, founders, and creators working on new AI-powered products.
The events include an OpenClaw developer meetup hosted with Sequoia Capital and a 24-hour hackathon organized by startup Mozart AI with support from OpenAI and ElevenLabs. Together, they illustrate how AI companies are investing in developer communities to accelerate experimentation and product development around emerging models and APIs.
OpenAI and Sequoia organize OpenClaw community meetup
Laura Modiano, Startups EMEA at OpenAI, shared details of the OpenClaw meetup in a LinkedIn post announcing the event. Modiano explained that OpenAI is hosting an OpenClaw meetup in London alongside venture capital firm Sequoia Capital. She posted: “We are hosting an OpenClaw meetup in London with our friends at Sequoia Capital.”
She added that the event will include discussion and audience interaction with technology and startup figures. Modiano wrote: “Fireside chat with Luciana Lixandru. Open Q&A with Peter Steinberger.”
The event is scheduled for March 6 in London and will include demonstrations from the Codex team alongside discussions with developers and founders working with the OpenClaw ecosystem. According to the event listing, attendance is limited and registration requires approval.
London hackathon explores AI tools for music creation
A separate developer event later in the month will focus on building AI-powered music tools. Arjun S Khanna, who is building Mozart AI, outlined the initiative in a LinkedIn post announcing the hackathon. Khanna said the company is organizing its first in-person developer event.
He posted: “We're hosting our first in person hackathon.”
He described the event as a 24-hour build session designed to explore how artificial intelligence could shape the next generation of music creation tools. Khanna added: “24 hours. 60 builders. One mission: build the future of music.”
The hackathon will take place in London from March 14 to March 15 and will bring together developers, producers, designers, and founders working at the intersection of music and artificial intelligence.
Participants will work in teams of up to four people to develop new tools and prototypes during the event. According to the event description, developers will receive credits for OpenAI and ElevenLabs APIs along with mentorship from engineers and industry participants.
Developer ecosystems expanding around AI platforms
Community events such as meetups and hackathons are becoming an important part of how AI platforms build developer ecosystems.
For companies such as OpenAI and ElevenLabs, these gatherings allow developers to experiment with APIs, test product ideas, and build early prototypes that may later develop into startups or commercial tools.
For EdTech and creative technology sectors, hackathons focused on AI applications such as music generation or automated workflows can also act as early testing environments for new learning tools and creator platforms.
The London events highlight how AI innovation is increasingly emerging from developer communities as well as established technology companies, with builders using new models and APIs to explore applications across education, creativity, and productivity.
