Huawei hosts ICT Competition and AI Accelerating Education Transformation Summit in Shenzhen, China

Information and communications provider Huawei has hosted its ICT Competition 2024-2025 Global Final, recognizing 18 outstanding teams from nine countries.

In its ninth year, the Huawei ICT Competition attracted entrants from more than 210,000 students and 2,000 colleges and universities. After national and regional competitions, 179 teams from 48 countries reached the global final in Shenzhen.

The competition was separated into three major themes: practice, innovation and programming, which ran alongside initiatives including industry-academia collaboration and tailored curriculum development.

Prizes were awarded to teams for each of the three main themes, while special honors also recognized contributions beyond technical excellence. This included the Women in Tech Award, granted to four all-female teams from Brazil, Saudi Arabia, Germany, and Kenya. The Green Development Award was given to a team from Ghana and the Most Valuable Instructor Award recognized the contributions of 18 instructors.

During the competition, Huawei also hosted the AI Accelerating Education Transformation Summit, which explored the role of AI in education. Huawei officially announced the launch of AI capability within the Huawei ICT Academy Intelligent Platform, making it easier for educators and students to use.

In the opening speech, Ritchie Peng, Director of the ICT Strategy and Business Development Dept at Huawei, said, "To achieve the goal of learning through competition and inspiring innovation through competition, we have continuously evolved the design of competition topics. The Practice Competition aligns with our vision for an Intelligent World 2030 and encourages students to master cloud computing, big data, and AI to drive social progress.

“The Innovation Competition focuses on green development and digital inclusion, motivating participants to solve real-world challenges in sectors like agriculture, healthcare, and education through ICT."
