HopSkipDrive launches new AI-powered model for student transportation, helping schools select effective pickup locations

HopSkipDrive, a transport technology specialist, has announced the launch of its Hub-and-Spoke offering, which aims to help schools select effective pick-up locations in centralized areas.

Powered by HopSkipDrive’s AI intelligence platform, the tool combines the company’s RouteWise AI with a network of new drivers in small vehicles, called CareDrivers. These are local caregivers who have all completed HopSkipDrive’s 15-point certification process.

RouteWise AI identifies centralized bus stop hubs and efficient routes to help students join the small vehicles, creating more efficient routes with higher utilization.

HopSkipDrive says the initiative can reduce costs, increase efficiency, and lead to more on-time arrivals, while also finding a solution for bus driver shortages.

“Schools can use RouteWise AI to design efficient routing and stops that best utilize a system’s existing drivers while increasing bus rider utilization,” explains Joanna McFarland, CEO and Co-Founder at HopSkipDrive.

“HopSkipDrive CareDrivers can then efficiently and safely bring students from multiple different locations to centralized bus stops. Leveraging our expertise in centralized transportation with partners like Tolleson Union High School District, we've transformed this offering with AI to meet current needs for out-of-district, choice policy, and highly mobile students."
