Walmart platform brings AI enabled guidance that enables participating customers to make health conscious choices

AI

Walmart is rolling out Everyday Health Signals, a new digital platform powered by AI that makes it easier for customers to eat healthier.

Developed initially for health plans and benefit managers, customers can choose to opt in to connect their Walmart.com account and receive AI driven insights to enhance their well-being. The platform was built by the US retail giant and is powered by a custom built personalisation engine, among other technologies.

Half of Americans are trying to eat healthier, and research shows that a curated experience with healthier food options leads to better choices. Everyday Health Signals aims to take the guesswork out of the process. Once customers opt in, the platform analyzes their Walmart.com retail history to deliver practical tips, like nutrition analysis and shopping lists.

Walmart is kicking off this initiative for Medicare Advantage members with NationsBenefits, where eligible members can receive free, personalised guidance that aligns with their wellness goals. It is expanding the platform to more health plans and benefits managers.

“By allowing customers the opportunity to make more informed choices with Walmart Everyday Health Signals, we’re creating the opportunity for widespread health impact,” says Pravene Nath, MD, Group Director, Consumer Health and Data Solutions, Walmart U.S. “We’re innovating with tech enabled health solutions that equip customers with a better understanding of how small decisions in the grocery aisle can help improve their overall health.”

With 145 million weekly customers shopping in-store and online, Walmart says that it is in a unique position to help customers address their health and wellness needs in one stop. Its customers can shop for fresh food, an affordable assortment of wellness and OTC supplies and household essentials, plus  have their prescriptions delivered directly to their doorstep.

RTIH AI in Retail Awards

Our sister title, RTIH, organiser of the industry leading RTIH Innovation Awards, proudly brings you the first edition of the RTIH AI in Retail Awards, which is now open for entries.

As we witness a digital transformation revolution across all channels, AI tools are reshaping the omnichannel game, from personalising customer experiences to optimising inventory, uncovering insights into consumer behaviour, and enhancing the human element of retailers' businesses.

With 2025 set to be the year when AI and especially gen AI shake off the ‘heavily hyped’ tag and become embedded in retail business processes, our newly launched awards celebrate global technology innovation in a fast moving omnichannel world and the resulting benefits for retailers, shoppers and employees.

Our 2025 winners will be those companies who not only recognise the potential of AI, but also make it usable in everyday work - resulting in more efficiency and innovation in all areas.

Winners will be announced at an evening event at The Barbican in Central London on Wednesday, 3rd September.

This will kick off with a drinks reception in the stunning Conservatory, followed by a three course meal, and awards ceremony in the Garden Room.
