Varsity Tutors launches Live+AI to link human tutoring with always-on AI
Platform combines high-dosage tutoring with context-aware AI for teachers, students, and district leaders.
Varsity Tutors, a Nerdy company, has introduced Live+AI—tools that connect its high-dosage tutoring model with context-aware AI across the learning cycle.
The company works with K–12 districts to provide tutoring and intervention; Live+AI is pitched as a way to give teachers time back, speed up proficiency gains, and give administrators clearer insight into progress. Varsity Tutors says AI supports students between sessions while human tutors provide accountability and instruction.
Frederick Heid, Superintendent at Polk County Public Schools in Florida, comments, “Our students and teachers need additional support, and by enabling our school communities to work directly with tutors in this way, we’re ensuring that every student has the tools they need to succeed while offering teachers an unparalleled support system.”
New tools for teachers and district oversight
For teachers, Varsity Tutors lists more than forty AI-powered tools intended to cut planning and admin by seven to ten hours per week and to help personalize instruction. For administrators, the platform adds predictive analytics dashboards aligned to MTSS, IEPs, pacing guides, and state standards, alongside flexible program models (district-wide high-dosage tutoring, scoped cohorts, parent-assigned options, or platform licenses). Compliance features include IEP tracking, pacing alignment, and intervention reporting.
Student-facing features include AI-assisted diagnostics, AI-adapted quizzes and practice tied to live sessions, one-to-one and small-group high-dosage tutoring with AI tools available to tutors, 24/7 academic support, live classes across core and enrichment subjects, and AI session summaries with video playback for follow-up.
Chuck Cohn, Founder and CEO of Nerdy Inc., says, “With Live+AI™, we are delivering on our mission to transform intervention into impact. By combining live tutors, AI-driven practice, and predictive analytics in one seamless platform, we’re helping schools double proficiency growth while reducing teacher workload.”
