RM Technology and Sky boost UK school broadband with 100Gb-ready network rollout

RM Technology and Sky Business Wholesale will provide UK schools with a 100Gb-ready, fiber-first network to support digital learning.

RM Technology has announced a partnership with Sky Business Wholesale to deliver high-speed broadband services to schools.

The move extends RM’s existing broadband offer by using Sky’s network, which spans more than 2,800 exchanges, and adds 100Gb-ready connectivity with shadow VLANs as standard.

The companies said the upgrade will give schools more reliable access to digital platforms such as RM SafetyNet, RM Unify, Microsoft Teams, and Google Classroom. The expanded service is positioned as a way to cut reliance on legacy links and better handle device-heavy classrooms, though details on rollout timescales, service levels, and installation processes remain unspecified.

Addressing access and inclusion

RM Technology framed the development as part of its effort to reduce the digital divide in education by improving access to online resources. The announcement also tied into Sky’s wider initiatives on digital skills, including Sky Up Academy Studios and The Edit, which aim to support students in underserved areas.

Matt Bearpark, GM of Broadband at RM Technology, says: “This isn’t just about broadband—it’s about bridging the digital divide and ensuring schools, teachers, and students have access to the tools and resources they need to succeed. By teaming up with Sky Business Wholesale, we’re delivering infrastructure that’s built for the classrooms of tomorrow.”

Damian Saunders, Managing Director at Sky Business Wholesale, says: “At Sky, we believe every young person deserves access to the tools and opportunities that unlock their potential — no matter where they live or learn. By partnering with RM Technology, we’re not just delivering high-speed connectivity; we’re laying the digital foundations for inclusive, future-ready classrooms.”
