Pearson and Google Cloud join forces to build AI-powered tools for K-12 learners and educators
New collaboration aims to deliver personalized learning, intelligent teacher support, and scalable content through Google Cloud’s AI infrastructure and Pearson’s education platform.
Pearson has entered into a multi-year strategic partnership with Google Cloud to co-develop AI-powered education products focused on the K-12 sector. The companies will collaborate on tools designed to personalize learning pathways, deliver actionable insights to teachers, and improve how schools access and scale digital resources.
The agreement brings together Pearson’s education products, including virtual schools, assessments, and courseware, with Google Cloud’s Vertex AI platform and its suite of generative and agentic models. The partnership aims to integrate these tools into a learning environment that can adapt to each student’s pace, while also providing data-driven support for teachers.
“When applied thoughtfully and responsibly, AI has the power to transform K-12 education, moving beyond a one-size-fits-all model to support each student on their unique learning journey,” says Omar Abbosh, CEO of Pearson. “By combining Pearson’s deep learning expertise with Google’s technology and AI capabilities, we will deliver a more personalized experience for students and equip K-12 teachers with tools that help them to focus on what matters most: sparking curiosity, developing critical thinking, and fostering a lifelong love of learning.”
Google Cloud infrastructure to scale Pearson content
The collaboration will also focus on delivery and integration. Using platforms like BigQuery, Pearson will enhance how teachers and administrators monitor student progress. Meanwhile, Google’s AI content generation tools, including Veo and Imagen, will support faster deployment of instructional materials across platforms like Connections Academy and GED Testing Service.
Google Cloud’s role includes embedding Gemini and LearnLM model families into Pearson’s ecosystem. These models are designed to support learning-specific use cases such as adaptive study assistance and contextual content delivery.
Partnership includes responsible AI and credentialing
Both companies have stated that responsible and secure AI development will be a core feature of the partnership. Pearson’s learning models will continue to be grounded in research and subject matter expertise, and Google Cloud will bring its infrastructure to ensure scalability and compliance.
As part of the agreement, Google Cloud will also continue its use of Credly by Pearson for issuing digital credentials and certifications across its programs.
“AI and advanced capabilities of agentic AI are set to unlock unprecedented potential within education by accelerating personalized learning journeys,” says Tara Brady, president of Google Cloud EMEA. “Our collaboration with Pearson is about unlocking this potential. Using Google Cloud's advanced AI models and agentic expertise, students will receive support tailored to their individual pace and needs, and teachers will be equipped with intelligent tools and actionable insights, so they have greater capacity for educators to focus on inspiring curiosity and preparing students to thrive.”
