MBZUAI outlines new Tahnoon bin Zayed Scholarship supporting 350 AI undergraduates
The Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI), a graduate and undergraduate institution focused on artificial intelligence and advanced technology, took to LinkedIn to outline the launch of the Tahnoon bin Zayed Scholarship in AI Excellence.
The initiative will begin in the 2025–2026 academic year and is designed to provide long-term support for undergraduate students pursuing AI studies.
According to the post, the scholarship will offer merit-based funding for approximately 350 students across a six-year period. MBZUAI said the selection process will center on mathematical capability, leadership qualities, and entrepreneurial potential.
Application requirements include meeting MBZUAI’s undergraduate admission standards and receiving full acceptance into the program. The evaluation will consider achievement across academic, technical, and extracurricular areas. Examples listed include STEM competitions, entrepreneurial activity, community projects with international reach, and recognition in fields such as music, arts, and sports.
The university noted that the scholarship is available to students from the United Arab Emirates and abroad.
Academic and program support
Students selected for the scholarship will receive funding for the full four-year duration of their undergraduate degree. MBZUAI stated that recipients will also have access to institutional resources to support entrepreneurial and technical development. Additional elements include participation in an academic environment focused on AI research and opportunities for students to represent the UAE at youth-focused events.
The announcement positioned the scholarship as part of the UAE’s wider strategy to expand AI capability and develop future technical talent.
