Curriculum Associates launches Magnetic Library, supporting K-6 students with foundational literacy skills
Curriculum Associates, the company behind i-Ready, has launched Magnetic Library, a core reading curriculum for children in grades K to 6.

Magnetic Library aims to build foundational literacy skills by guiding students with compelling questions. As they work through a text, students are supported with structured discussions to help them connect and grow their ideas.
Curriculum Associates says research has shown that decoding alone is not enough to build these skills and students require knowledge-rich experiences to truly understand what they are reading.
"Literacy is more than a skill—it's a gateway to possibility," explains Kelly Sia, Chief Executive Officer at Curriculum Associates. "At Curriculum Associates, we believe every student deserves the chance to do more than just learn—they deserve the opportunity to explore, connect, and create meaning from what they know. Magnetic Literacy is built on that promise."
The program also offers writing tasks that draw on everything they have already learned, helping them apply what they have learned in context.
"The true purpose of literacy is to cultivate minds that are curious, thoughtful, and empowered to make sense of the world," says Barrie Olson, Vice President of Reading Curriculum and Instruction at Curriculum Associates.
"Magnetic Literacy goes beyond teaching skills—it is designed to help students read, write, speak, and listen with intention, so they can think deeply, ask meaningful questions, and solve problems creatively."
