California colleges and universities launch CARLE, an open repository of 600+ educational resources
CARLE is a new open collection of teaching and learning resources created by faculty at California’s public colleges and universities.
A LinkedIn post from CARLE announced the launch of the Curated Asset Repository for Learning Excellence, a free and open collection of more than 600 educational resources created by faculty across California Community Colleges, California State University, and the University of California.
The repository is supported by the California Education Learning Lab, which funds projects to develop and share open educational resources.
The post states, “We’re thrilled to announce the launch of CARLE (Curated Asset Repository for Learning Excellence) – a comprehensive collection of +600 open educational resources created by faculty across California's public colleges and universities!”
CARLE features materials ranging from Canvas courses and online courseware to lecture notes, class exercises, and worksheets. Most of the resources currently focus on STEM disciplines, though the collection is expected to grow to include interdisciplinary data science and AI-related content.
According to the announcement, the repository offers “ready-to-use open resources for faculty, learning communities, and tutors” as well as “flexible content that can be adapted across courses and disciplines.”
CARLE is described as a “living repository” that will be updated with new resources as they are developed. All assets are available for public use, subject to licensing terms.
The post concludes, “CARLE is a living repository that will be updated with new OER as they become available – most resources are STEM-focused currently though will include interdisciplinary data science and AI-related resources in the future!”
