OpenAI recruits Google Cloud talent as Nikita Le Messurier joins APAC team

Former Google Cloud and AWS executive moves to OpenAI to support digital-native companies deploying generative AI across Australia and New Zealand.

OpenAI has strengthened its go-to-market presence in Australia and New Zealand with the appointment of Nikita Le Messurier, who joins from Google Cloud following earlier roles at Amazon Web Services.

The move signals continued expansion of OpenAI’s regional operations as demand for generative AI deployment grows among digital-native businesses.

Le Messurier shared the update via LinkedIn, confirming she has joined OpenAI’s GTM team and will work with organizations building and shipping generative AI solutions. She is part of OpenAI’s founding team in the region, working across Australia and New Zealand with a focus on scaling adoption among startups and high-growth companies.

Le Messurier wrote: “After a wonderful few months at Google, and several defining years at AWS, I’m excited to share that I’ve joined OpenAI!”

She added: “I’ll be working in GTM with Digital Natives as they experiment with and ship GenAI solutions.”

Focus on digital-native adoption and rapid deployment

Le Messurier’s role centers on supporting digital-native organizations as they integrate generative AI into products, workflows, and customer-facing services. Her background includes working with startups on infrastructure, scaling, and go-to-market strategy during her time at AWS, where she supported companies through growth and expansion phases.

She highlighted early observations from her first days at OpenAI, pointing to execution speed and customer feedback loops as defining characteristics of the company’s approach.

She wrote: “Only a couple of days in, but a few things have already stood out: The pace is fast and the team here is exceptional. There’s a clear sense of focus in how things are built and how quickly they move. Strong customer alignment means feedback is incorporated quickly and continuously.

“People are thoughtful and optimistic about the future of GenAI. There’s a shared belief in a mission that really matters: to ensure that artificial general intelligence benefits all of humanity.”

Career spans AWS, Google Cloud, and startup ecosystem

Le Messurier joins OpenAI after a short period at Google Cloud, where she worked as Account Director for Digital Native Business. Prior to that, she spent over five years at Amazon Web Services as a Senior Account Manager and Startup Advisor, working with startups on technology strategy, infrastructure optimization, and growth planning.

Her experience also extends into venture and angel investment, with roles across Airtree, Startmate, and other investment networks. She is currently involved as a Limited Partner and investor across several funds and early-stage companies, with a focus on AI, cybersecurity, deep tech, climate tech, health tech, and creative technology.

Her move highlights the continued overlap between cloud infrastructure providers, startup ecosystems, and AI platform companies, as talent shifts toward organizations building and deploying generative AI at scale.

Le Messurier’s role forms part of OpenAI’s founding team in Australia and New Zealand, with a focus on growing the company’s presence and supporting customers across the region. In her LinkedIn profile, she states that her work will involve helping organizations adopt OpenAI technologies while advancing the company’s stated mission.

She writes that the role focuses on “growing OpenAI’s presence and advance its mission to ensure AGI benefits all of humanity.”
