IXL launches new diagnostic tool for PreK-12 math and English that provides an evaluation in one hour

IXL, an educational platform from the company behind Rosetta Stone, has launched a new diagnostic tool that claims to provide an evaluation in one hour.

IXL LevelUp Diagnostic is available for PreK-12 in math and English, helping educators to identify students needing intervention, track student progress, and lead organization-wide improvement efforts.

The tool also provides personalized action plans for individual students, linking the data to learning and making smarter decisions.

IXL LevelUp Diagnostic offers a standards-aligned evaluation within 45-60 minutes per subject.

Students need to complete an assessment, after which educators are given accurate data on their grade-level proficiency, with a breakdown by strand.

The action plans are linked to more than 19,000 targeted IXL skills. With real-time mode, students’ data is updated as they learn, removing skills from their action plans once they reach proficiency.

"I use LevelUp several times throughout the school year," comments Nicole Cross, an Algebra I teacher for Johnson City Schools in Tennessee. "Early on, it gives me a clear picture of where students are starting and how that compares to their previous year's progress. It's also the first place I go when parents have concerns. I can show them data that explains exactly how their child is doing.”

"For too long, assessments have focused on measurement instead of momentum," adds Kate Mattison, Vice President of Curriculum at IXL Learning. "LevelUp changes that, closing the gap between testing and teaching to fuel meaningful instruction, save time and deliver deeper insights."
