Grammarly adds multilingual support with grammar and spelling support in five new languages and translation for 19 languages

In addition to English, Grammarly users will now be able to receive spelling and grammar corrections in Spanish, French, Portuguese, German, and Italian. It will provide paragraph-level rewrites in these languages as well, helping users to refine their tone, style, and flow.
The app will also now offer in-line translation in 19 languages so that users can translate as they write emails, documents, chats, and social media posts. This offers an alternative to using third-party tools.
Grammarly has also announced plans to add clarity suggestions in Spanish, similar to those currently provided in English, later this year. The tool will be rolled out to other languages in 2026.
The multilingual writing support will eventually be added to Grammarly’s recently-launched AI writing surface. Users will be able to draft, edit, and refine their work in multiple languages without needing to switch between apps.
Writing on LinkedIn, Grammarly’s Head of Education Jenny Maxwell says: “I am thrilled because this has been one of our most requested features, and now international students, multilingual learners, and non-native English speakers can receive real-time writing support in platforms like Canvas and Google Docs.
“For faculty, this means smoother collaboration with colleagues worldwide and more natural communication with students from diverse linguistic backgrounds.”
