Google completes Wiz acquisition as cloud security firm joins its AI infrastructure push
Wiz becomes part of Google Cloud as the companies position security as a key layer of the emerging AI infrastructure stack.
Google has completed its acquisition of cloud security company Wiz, bringing the platform into the Google Cloud ecosystem as organizations accelerate AI development and look for new ways to secure cloud infrastructure.
The move positions Wiz as part of Google’s broader strategy to strengthen security capabilities around AI workloads, cloud platforms, and software development environments. As generative AI speeds up how applications are built and deployed, companies are facing new security challenges across cloud systems.
Wiz says joining Google will allow the company to expand its security platform while continuing to support organizations operating across multiple cloud environments.
Wiz joins Google Cloud security ecosystem
Assaf Rappaport, Co-Founder and CEO at Wiz, confirmed the milestone in a LinkedIn post as the acquisition formally closed: “Same pack. Bigger playground.”
Rappaport emphasized that the company’s culture and approach will remain the same as it becomes part of Google: “What makes Wiz, Wiz is the team. The culture. The way we build together. As we join Google, that doesn't change.”
He added that the partnership allows the company to address cloud security challenges at greater scale: “Same drive to solve real cloud security problems, just at a whole new scale.”
In a blog post marking the announcement, Wiz says the pace of AI-driven development is changing how organizations approach security: “AI is doing it again, unlocking a new era of innovation where applications move from idea to production in minutes.”
The company says generative AI is increasingly embedded in how organizations build and deploy software, creating new security challenges across cloud platforms.
Wiz has been expanding its platform to address these risks, including tools designed to monitor AI workloads, detect vulnerabilities, and provide visibility across cloud environments.
Company leaders reflect on milestone
Yinon Costica, Co-Founder and VP of Product at Wiz, also addressed the acquisition in a LinkedIn post: “From a first office photo in 2020 to securing the future of AI with Google. Today, a new chapter begins.”
Costica described the milestone as the result of the company’s global team and long-term vision: “You are the proof that a clear sense of purpose, combined with deep technical ingenuity and resourcefulness, can overcome any obstacle.”
Costica said the partnership with Google will help advance the company’s long-term mission around AI security: “Now, a higher mission is ahead of us: securing the technological future of every organization and nation in the era of AI, on any cloud.”
Wiz says the next phase of development will focus on expanding its AI security capabilities while continuing to support organizations operating across AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, and other major cloud platforms.
