Ginko launches clinician-backed AI parenting app to tackle screen-time battles and digital wellness
Ginko, co-founded by Larissa May and Raghu Kiran Appasani, MD, has unveiled an AI parenting platform for families with children aged 6 to 14, combining medical oversight, AI personalization, and digital wellness expertise.
Ginko has launched as what its founders describe as the first clinician-backed AI parenting platform, designed to help families manage screen time, social media, and online safety.
The company says families encounter more than 500 screen conflicts each year, yet many pediatricians do not address technology use in routine consultations.
The platform was announced in LinkedIn posts by Ginko’s leadership team, including CTO Maximillian Kirchoff, who wrote: “Launch Day: The Future of Parenting in the Digital Era is Here! Our team just launched Ginko - the first clinician-backed AI platform for parenting in the digital era.”
Features and clinical oversight
Ginko’s app provides parents with 24/7 access to personalized, evidence-based support. The system includes step-by-step playbooks, alerts to seek professional care, and daily updates on emerging digital trends such as new apps or viral challenges.
The company emphasizes that its approach is rooted in clinical oversight, with psychiatrists and pediatricians involved in shaping the platform. Ginko is HIPAA-compliant and developed with input from a clinical advisory board. According to its founders, the goal is to move families “from screen fear to screen freedom” by offering practical and trusted resources.
In her LinkedIn article, co-founder Larissa May wrote: “Parents fighting 500+ screen battles yearly with their kids. Turning to Google and ChatGPT for advice they couldn't trust. 77% of pediatricians not even addressing screen time. An entire generation raising digital natives without a manual.”
May is also the founder of #HalfTheStory, a nonprofit dedicated to improving young people’s relationship with technology. Prior to launching Ginko, she worked on brand-building for companies such as Kin Euphorics and Otherland.
Reflecting on the launch, May posted: “Our vision is to move every family from screen fear to screen freedom. This fall, I'm hitting the road to shake hands with our first 1,000 customers. Because this isn't just a product launch - it's a movement, and this is just the beginning.”
Ginko is available as a free download, with additional features accessible via a paid subscription. The platform includes resources for families with children who have additional needs, including ADHD and autism, and tools designed to help parents set up safer devices, manage online risks, and reduce conflict.
