Focus School Software chosen to replace Aeries at Apple Valley Unified School District in California

Focus School Software has been chosen by Apple Valley Unified School District in California, replacing Aeries as its student data management platform.

Apple Valley will begin implementing the platform in 2025, with an aim to go live in the 2026-27 academic year.

Focus will replace Apple Valley’s legacy Aeries SIS with a single, web-based platform providing a single online enrollment and registration platform. Parents and students will be given access to a mobile app and the district will benefit from robust analytics and districtwide data visibility.

Apple Valley’s 13,000 students, as well as their families and staff, will benefit from a seamless experience under the new platform.

"Apple Valley USD's selection represents an exciting milestone in California," says Andrew Schmadeke, CEO at Focus School Software. "Districts across the state are recognizing the need for a flexible, modern SIS built on service and transparency. We're thrilled to welcome Apple Valley to the Focus family."

Aeries student information system was reportedly breached in 2019, according to a Notice of Data Breach sent to those affected. The company later settled a $1.75 million lawsuit filed on behalf of students at San Dieguito Union High School District.

“This particular change isn't happening at a time of our choosing — but thankfully, the process has been of our choosing,” adds Apple Valley’s Assistant Superintendent Pat Schlosser. “It's being driven by the people who use the system every day."
