ETIH Innovation Awards 2026: spotlight on Best Student Information System

This category recognizes student information systems that improve data management, support administration, and deliver measurable efficiencies.

We’re continuing our series exploring each category in the ETIH Innovation Awards 2026, taking a closer look at what the judges expect and what makes a strong submission.

This edition focuses on Best Student Information System (SIS), a category celebrating platforms that streamline student data management across schools, colleges, universities, and global education providers. Entries should demonstrate secure handling of records, ease of use, and measurable improvements in administrative efficiency.

What this category covers

This category highlights systems designed to support the full lifecycle of student information, from enrollment to performance tracking. Eligible entries include platforms that help institutions manage records, attendance, grades, reporting, communication, or compliance.

Entries may include solutions for:

  • student records and enrollment

  • attendance monitoring and reporting

  • gradebooks, transcripts, and progression tracking

  • institutional data management and analytics

  • communication tools for students, families, or staff

  • scheduling, timetabling, and resource planning

  • integration with LMS, VLE, CRM, HR, or finance systems

Solution show adoption across schools, trusts, districts, colleges, universities, or multi-campus networks.

What judges will look for

Judges will assess whether the system improves efficiency, accuracy, and ease of data management at scale.

Entries should address:

  • the administrative or institutional challenge the SIS is designed to solve

  • usability, accessibility, and clarity of workflows for staff and students

  • data security, compliance, permissions, and safeguarding considerations

  • measurable efficiencies such as time savings, reduced errors, or improved reporting

  • user feedback from administrators, teachers, students, or institutional partners

  • evidence of deployment across multiple campuses, institutions, or international settings

Effective submissions will demonstrate the platform’s ability to simplify complex processes and support day-to-day decision-making.

How to strengthen your submission

Entrants are encouraged to explain the research or institutional feedback that shaped the product design. This helps judges understand the reasoning behind key features and workflows.

Submissions will be strengthened by clear evidence showing how the SIS improves accuracy, saves time, or reduces administrative workload. Data on adoption rates, system reliability, and integration capabilities can help demonstrate long-term value.

Feedback from administrators, data managers, teachers, or students — including surveys or documented case studies — will support claims of usability and effectiveness.
