Bellevue University launches workforce assessment tool for employers, helping to build talent pipelines

Bellevue University, an online education platform, has launched the Workforce Skills Assessment tool aiming to help employers identify opportunities for workforce development.

The assessment identifies 17 critical skills for individuals, managers and leaders, and creates a competency model that employers can use in their own organizations.

“The Workforce Skills Assessment instrument is a diagnostic tool designed to identify real-world leadership skills. Employers can use the results to focus on performance and growth goals,” says Dr. Mary Hawkins, President at Bellevue University.

Each employee that completes the assessment will receive a detailed report highlighting their strengths as well as opportunities for improvement. Team leaders and managers will also be able to access the report at unit level.

“The model helps organizations establish a shared understanding of what it needs from its workforce to stay competitive,” explains Dr. Rich Lombardo, Vice President of Bellevue’s Workforce Skills Academy. “The individual results give employees the information they need to move from managing themselves, to managing others, to leading others.” He added that the online assessment can be used free of charge by companies of all sizes, in any industry.

The news follows shortly after Bellevue University partnered with technology giant Lenovo to launch two new digital courses on supply chains and logistics, aiming to help develop the next generation of supply chain professionals. The new Supply Chain Operations & Project Management Certificate of Completion will offer professionals sought-after skills over two three-credit hour courses: Management of Supply Chain Operations and Advanced Lean Six Sigma Green Belt.
