Anthropic brings fundraising, hiring and AI governance tools to Claude for Nonprofits

Developed with around 30 nonprofit organizations, the new plugin is available to verified Claude Team and Enterprise customers at no additional cost, with further training and support planned

ETIH edtech news coverage of Anthropic's Claude for Nonprofits plugin, featuring AI skills for fundraising, hiring, marketing and governance. The initiative supports nonprofit organizations.

Anthropic has introduced new Claude for Nonprofits tools to help organizations manage fundraising, recruitment, marketing and internal governance, with the plugin developed alongside approximately 30 nonprofit partners.

Anthropic has introduced a Claude for Nonprofits plugin designed to help charities and nonprofit organizations manage fundraising, recruitment, marketing and internal operations using AI, with tools developed alongside approximately 30 nonprofit partners.

The plugin brings together AI skills and connectors that allow organizations to work with their existing information, policies and operational systems. It is automatically installed for verified nonprofit customers using Claude Team and Enterprise plans, without an additional plugin charge.

The release targets a substantial proportion of Anthropic's existing nonprofit customer base. More than 25,000 nonprofits now use Claude, according to the company, with over 75% operating with fewer than 10 Claude seats.

The tools were developed with organizations working across education, economic mobility, healthcare and humanitarian services, with participants testing early versions against real fundraising proposals, operational tasks and internal workflows.

Claude plugin connects fundraising, recruitment and organizational policies

The new plugin is intended to support activities that can be difficult for small nonprofit teams to manage alongside delivering their core services.

Fundraising tools can research potential donors and grant opportunities, examine requests for proposals, assess eligibility requirements and prepare draft applications using an organization's existing information.

The system can also help staff prepare for funder meetings, draft donor communications and produce grant reports with supporting sources for reported figures.

For recruitment, the plugin includes skills for developing job descriptions, interview guides, candidate scoring rubrics and onboarding plans. Marketing tools can assist with campaign planning, content drafting and reviewing materials against an organization's established communications style.

Anthropic has also introduced functions intended to help nonprofit teams establish appropriate governance before using AI across their operations.

Organizations can map where their records, financial information, grant documentation and internal policies are stored. The plugin can then use that context when carrying out subsequent tasks.

Staff can also consult Claude about whether a proposed activity complies with their organization's AI use policy.

Anthropic says customer data is not used to train its models by default, with administrators able to manage permissions and access to connected services.

Education nonprofits contribute to development and testing

Education-focused organizations are among those using Claude and contributing feedback to Anthropic's nonprofit offerings.

Start Early, which supports children and families, has been involved in developing the new nonprofit skills.

Stella Owings, Senior Project Manager at Start Early, says: “Claude first helped our staff save time on tasks like formatting. The nonprofit skills take that further, offering a vision of how AI can support whole workflows instead of single tasks.”

StriveTogether, another participating organization, has tested tools designed to help fundraising staff identify potential funding opportunities, review donor priorities and retrieve relationship information from customer relationship management systems.

Anthropic also highlights the work of Taleemabad, which has developed Rumi, a Claude-powered tool supporting teachers with lesson planning and instructional guidance.

Haroon Yasin, CEO of Taleemabad, describes the organization's approach: “We built Rumi with Claude so every teacher can have a coach in their pocket.”

Taleemabad reports that Rumi supports 16,000 teachers and 418,000 learners across six countries, with 95% of teachers rating its lesson plans as useful. These are organization-reported figures, and Anthropic has not provided an independent evaluation methodology for those results.

Rumi is an existing Claude-based education initiative rather than a newly released feature of the nonprofit plugin.

Anthropic plans further AI support through Taproot and Claude Corps

The plugin release follows earlier changes to Anthropic's nonprofit offering, including discounted access to Claude and additional support for smaller organizations.

Verified nonprofits can receive discounts of up to 75%, while eligible organizations in low- and middle-income countries can access discounts of approximately 90% on standard Team seats.

Anthropic is also planning a partnership with the Taproot Foundation to extend Claude Corps, its AI fellowship program, to nonprofits requiring shorter, project-based technical assistance.

Claude Corps is intended to place 1,000 early-career fellows across at least 400 nonprofit organizations in the USA, helping participating teams develop practical AI capabilities.

The proposed Taproot collaboration would provide access to experienced pro bono consultants for organizations whose needs do not require longer-term placements. The partnership has not yet been finalized.

For nonprofit teams introducing Claude independently, Anthropic has scheduled two free live webinars.

The first, covering data handling and AI use policies for administrators, will take place on November 10. A second session on November 12 will focus on helping staff begin using Claude in their daily work.

The Claude for Nonprofits plugin is available now to verified organizations on Team and Enterprise plans, with further guidance and tutorials available through Claude Academy.
