Workforce Career Centers launches Atlanta site to tackle skills gap in trade sectors

The new training facility offers certification programs in healthcare, construction, media, and other sectors facing long-term labor shortages.

Workforce Career Centers has opened a new campus in Atlanta offering vocational programs in sectors facing ongoing labor shortages. The trade school provides certification and hands-on training in fields such as healthcare, culinary arts, media, design, construction, and education.

The organization operates as a national workforce development provider and trade school, with a focus on short-term, skills-based education tied directly to job placement. The new Atlanta campus is located in West Midtown.

According to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the skilled trades sector may face a shortfall of two million workers by 2030. Workforce Career Centers aims to address this gap by aligning its curriculum with industry demand and reducing barriers to employment.

Marion Skinner, CEO of Workforce Career Centers, says, “Our mission is to prepare individuals for high-demand careers by ensuring they are equipped with the skills and certifications employers need most in this economy.”

Industry partners to support hands-on learning

The school has partnered with several local and national employers and agencies to deliver its programs. These include Microsoft, Grady Health System, Atlanta Public Schools, Georgia Workforce Development, and the Georgia Department of Labor.

Microsoft will support training in AI tools and productivity software. Grady Health System will provide clinical placements in healthcare programs, such as phlebotomy. Atlanta Public Schools will contribute to classroom-based career training for aspiring teaching assistants.

Darrell Booker, Tech Community Acceleration Manager at Microsoft, says, “This collaboration with Workforce Career Centers expands access to AI education and skills training. This program equips students with the knowledge and skills needed to thrive in an AI-driven world.”
The official opening takes place on August 2 at 11 a.m. at 1073 Huff Rd NW, Suite C. Workforce Career Centers states that students can earn certifications with little to no debt and enter the workforce directly following completion.

Skinner adds, “We’re building the workforce these companies need, which benefits both our local communities and our economy.”
