Pearson and HCLTech partner on AI-powered workforce and learning tools

The multi-year deal will focus on co-developing education and skills platforms to address global workforce gaps in an AI-driven economy.

Pearson and HCLTech have announced a strategic partnership aimed at developing new AI-enabled learning products and workforce solutions.

The collaboration is intended to close skills gaps, support career advancement, and provide organizations with tools to align talent development with business strategy.

Pearson is a global education company specializing in digital learning, assessments, and workforce solutions. HCLTech is a multinational technology and engineering firm based in India, with more than 223,000 employees and operations in 60 countries.

The partnership will combine Pearson’s expertise in content and assessment with HCLTech’s product engineering, digital transformation services, and GenAI capabilities. Key elements of the deal include joint development of AI-powered education tools, integration of Pearson technologies into HCLTech’s internal HR ecosystem, and collaborative efforts to reach global enterprise clients.

Joint development and integration plans

As part of the agreement, Pearson will use HCLTech’s AI Force platform and Career Shaper learning tools to expand its AI-based offerings. These include digital training programs, workforce analytics, and career development systems for enterprises, higher education institutions, and public agencies.

HCLTech will also embed Pearson products into its internal learning infrastructure. This includes verified credentials through Credly, structured pathways, and the use of Pearson’s Faethm AI platform for talent forecasting and career progression.

Omar Abbosh, CEO of Pearson, says, “Workers and employers around the world continue to be challenged by the rise of AI in the workplace. This is causing a growing skills gap that needs our attention quickly. Together with HCLTech, we will equip people with the AI-driven learning tools and the skills that help them navigate continuous change and build successful, resilient careers.”

Three pillars for global rollout

The companies have outlined three core focus areas: co-developing products for the market, operating a joint AI tech lab for education innovation, and delivering data-driven talent design services to enterprise clients.

C Vijayakumar, CEO and Managing Director of HCLTech, says, “As GenAI and digital engineering redefine what’s possible in education and workforce development, we are thrilled to expand this collaboration globally. Together, we have a unique opportunity to create transformative learning experiences and unlock competitive advantages for learners and institutions around the world.”
