HCLTech signs strategic deal with OpenAI to expand enterprise-scale AI adoption
HCLTech has entered into a multi-year strategic partnership with OpenAI, aiming to deliver enterprise-scale generative AI adoption across sectors. The agreement positions HCLTech as one of OpenAI’s first global strategic services partners.
Headquartered in India, HCLTech offers technology services in digital, cloud, AI, and engineering. The company works with clients across industries such as financial services, healthcare, telecom, manufacturing, and public services.
Under the partnership, HCLTech will combine its AI Engineering capabilities with OpenAI’s models and APIs to support scaled deployment of generative AI. The collaboration will cover a wide range of services, from readiness assessments and integration to governance and change management.
Internal rollout and platform integration
In addition to supporting its clients, HCLTech will deploy ChatGPT Enterprise and OpenAI APIs internally. The aim is to equip employees with secure, enterprise-grade generative AI tools to enhance productivity and process efficiency.
The company will also embed OpenAI’s models into its suite of platforms, including AI Force, AI Foundry, AI Engineering, and a set of vertical-specific AI accelerators. These tools are intended to streamline business processes and improve customer and employee experiences.
Vijay Guntur, global chief technology officer and head of ecosystems at HCLTech, says the collaboration is aligned with the company’s engineering focus and OpenAI’s commitment to innovation.
“We are honored to work with OpenAI, the global leader in generative AI foundation models. This collaboration underscores our commitment to empowering Global 2000 enterprises with transformative AI solutions. It reaffirms HCLTech's robust engineering heritage and aligns with OpenAI's spirit of innovation. Together, we are driving a new era of AI-powered transformation across our offerings and operations at a global scale,” Guntur says.
Giancarlo ‘GC’ Lionetti, chief commercial officer at OpenAI, adds, “HCLTech’s deep industry knowledge and AI engineering expertise sets the stage for scalable AI innovation. As one of the first system integration companies to integrate OpenAI to improve efficiency and enhance customer experiences, they’re accelerating productivity and setting a new standard for how industries can transform using generative AI.”
