University of Maryland launches online Master of Science in Information Systems program

The University of Maryland’s Robert H Smith School of Business has launched an online Master of Science in Information Systems (OMSIS) program.

The course focuses on building foundational and pragmatic skills in AI including agentic AI, deep learning, data science, blockchain, fintech, cybersecurity and digital trust, cloud computing, database management, and emerging technologies.

The school’s Center for AI in Business works closely with students to connect them with companies to solve real challenges and participate in AI case competitions.

The OMSIS course is completed entirely online through a combination of independent and virtual classroom-based coursework taking place in the evenings to accommodate working professionals.

Launching in Fall 2025, the deadline for applications ends in February 2026.

Earlier this year, a team from the University of Maryland’s Robert H Smith School of Business launched a new AI platform aiming to transform the way candidates prepare for job interviews. Called Stratpath AI, the system uses case-based learning, behavioral interview preparation, and instant grading to help students prepare for the transition from academia into professional careers.
