Udemy to launch MCP Server to integrate AI-powered learning directly into workplace tools
The new platform will allow employees to access role-specific training through AI systems already used in their organizations.
Udemy, an AI-powered skills acceleration platform, will launch its new Model Context Protocol (MCP) Server in August to bring personalized upskilling directly into the flow of work.
Embedding training within existing AI tools
The MCP Server, developed by the Udemy Innovation Studio, integrates with widely used AI systems such as Claude and ChatGPT, enabling employees to access targeted learning without leaving their existing tools. By embedding Udemy’s course library into AI platforms and workflows, organizations can provide real-time, contextual training without disrupting productivity.
Hugo Sarrazin, president and CEO at Udemy, says the new server is designed to meet a growing enterprise challenge. “Companies, especially large enterprises, are making significant investments in AI tools, but the real challenge is making those tools useful in day-to-day work,” Sarrazin says.
“The Udemy MCP Server helps bridge that gap by bringing the right learning to the right person at the right time, directly inside the platforms they’re already using. We’re excited to keep providing our customers with innovative products that can help them optimize reskilling opportunities, keep pace with AI transformation, and continue to anticipate what’s next.”
Key features and enterprise focus
The MCP Server includes several core capabilities:
On-demand support: employees can access curated micro-courses and lessons to solve immediate workplace challenges.
Plug-and-play integration: the system connects with AI tools without requiring custom development or system changes, critical for enterprises with dedicated AI environments.
Intelligent content matching:relevant training appears directly within coding environments, CRM systems, or other workplace platforms.
Role-specific contextualization: recommendations are tailored to job functions and organizational needs, keeping data private and secure.
Udemy says this approach responds to the inefficiencies of traditional online learning, which often pulls employees out of their workflows and creates fragmented experiences.
Early access and launch timeline
The MCP Server will launch with selected Udemy Business customers through an early access program, allowing enterprises to test and influence the platform before the broader rollout later this year.
Sarrazin adds that the investment strengthens Udemy’s long-term strategy. “Delivering skills development at the point of need, and at scale, helps drive measurable business outcomes for business leaders,” Sarrazin says.
