Pearson expands AI Study tools to global markets

Pearson today announced an expansion of its generative AI beta study tools into global editions of its higher education textbooks. Set for implementation by August 2024, these tools will be available to students across Australia, Asia-Pacific, Canada, the Middle East, and Europe. The expansion follows the initial integration of these AI tools into Pearson’s U.S. products last August.

The tools will be incorporated into dozens of English-language Pearson eTextbooks and Canadian adaptations of U.S.-originated content across disciplines including science, engineering, mathematics, and business.

Additionally, the AI study tools will be integrated into multiple science titles within Pearson’s Mastering study platform.

Ebrahim Matthews, SVP of International Higher Education at Pearson, stated:

“We know that students want to make their studying more efficient and are seeking ways to use trustworthy AI technology to get unstuck when they’re struggling in their coursework.

“We’ve built our AI study tools to meet this need, drawing from Pearson’s content to provide personalized support when students need it. With the expansion of AI study tools internationally, we can help more students succeed in university and beyond.”

Lisa Urry, co-author of "Campbell Biology," a leading global textbook, commented on the adoption of AI in education:

“As generative AI rapidly evolves, students are eagerly using this new technology as another tool to benefit their academic work. I’m very excited that more students and faculty all around the world will now be able to enhance their learning and teaching experiences using Pearson’s AI study tools.”
