Modern Campus appoints Craig Chanoff as CEO following Providence Equity investment
A LinkedIn post from Craig Chanoff confirmed he has been named CEO at Modern Campus as the company announces a majority growth investment from Providence Equity Partners.
In a LinkedIn post, Craig Chanoff announced his new role as CEO at Modern Campus. He reflected on his career focus in education technology and the personal influence of his father’s 39-year teaching career in the Philadelphia school district.
Chanoff writes: “Throughout my career, my purpose has always been helping education-focused companies more effectively support students, institutions, and their broader communities. This is deeply personal for me - shaped in many ways by my father’s 39-year teaching career with the Philadelphia school district.”
Modern Campus provides software solutions for higher education institutions. Its learner-to-earner lifecycle platform supports the student journey with a web content management system, catalog and curriculum management tools, student engagement solutions, and a student information system (SIS) designed for lifelong learning and workforce readiness.
Providence Equity investment
Alongside Chanoff’s appointment, Modern Campus announced that Providence Equity Partners has made a majority growth investment in the company. Providence is a private equity firm specializing in education and vertical software. The investment will support new product development and strategic acquisitions.
David Phillips, Senior Managing Director at Providence, says the firm views Modern Campus as “a true innovator at the forefront of higher education technology and a compelling business well-aligned with Providence’s deep sector expertise in education and vertical software.”
Chanoff adds: “Providence’s acquisition is a strong vote of confidence in our mission and market leadership. I’m honored to lead Modern Campus into this exciting new phase, working alongside our exceptional team and Providence to help higher education institutions deliver the modern student experience from a prospective learner’s very first click to the moment they achieve a career-defining credential.”
