MilliporeSigma and Washington University team up to accelerate research and grow life sciences talent in St. Louis.

MilliporeSigma has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Washington University in St. Louis to deepen a nearly century-long partnership focused on advancing scientific research and innovation.

The agreement is designed to support joint research initiatives, technology scouting, and efforts to strengthen the life sciences talent pipeline.

Focus on research and regional innovation

Under the MoU, MilliporeSigma will provide access to its product portfolio, services, and technical expertise to support WashU researchers. The collaboration aims to accelerate the path from early-stage lab discoveries to clinical applications, with an emphasis on sustainable and socially responsible science.

Jean-Charles Wirth, CEO of MilliporeSigma, says the partnership highlights the growing need for academic-industry alliances. “Academic-industry collaborations are more critical than ever in today’s dynamic scientific landscape,” Wirth says. “Our partnership with WashU underscores MilliporeSigma’s commitment to empower the next generation of scientists driving progress in healthcare and the life sciences. MilliporeSigma also plans to expand support for early-stage innovation by engaging with startups and incubators linked to the university. The goal is to help emerging ventures accelerate their growth by providing resources and technical services.
