James Grant outlines new ventures following MyTutor acquisition

MyTutor co-founder reveals new projects in AI advisory, health technology, and business innovation.

James Grant, co-founder of MyTutor, has shared an update on his work since the company’s sale to IXL Learning earlier this year. The update, shared on LinkedIn, marks six months since Grant concluded a decade with the UK-based EdTech brand.

MyTutor, which connects students with online tutors, has grown to support half of all secondary schools across the UK.

Grant has turned his focus to advisory work in artificial intelligence through Thread Group, partnering with organizations such as Lambert Smith Hampton, Monument, and Far Eastern Manufacturing. His work centers on helping companies build a culture of AI, embedding automation and GPT solutions into daily operations.

“Not just tools or training, but helping teams rethink how they work, embedding automations, GPTs, and habits that make AI part of their DNA,” says Grant.

Supporting health, fitness, and wellbeing innovation

Grant is also advising the team at UNTIL, a health and fitness platform aimed at empowering practitioners and scaling business growth. He described the experience as inspiring and credited Vishal, a member of the UNTIL team, for inviting him into the project.

“They’re redefining the future of health, fitness, and wellbeing, empowering practitioners and building a brand and business that truly scales,” he wrote.

Alongside advisory work, Grant is exploring new ideas in health technology, including a concept designed to help individuals manage their health journeys across specialists, tests, and data. He also noted that he remains “knee-deep in a house renovation,” describing it as the ultimate test of operational resilience.

Reflecting on the months since MyTutor’s sale, Grant says he is ready to connect with companies and founders exploring automation, GPT solutions, and health tech innovation.

“Six months on, I’m energized, curious, and building again,” says Grant.
