Fresno Unified School District partners with Zum, aiming to modernize student transportation

Fresno Unified School District, the third-largest school district in California, has announced a new five-year transportation contract with Zum, a tech-enabled student transportation provider.

Fresno will start using Zum’s technology platform in August, managing and monitoring all district-operated school bus routes for the 2025-2026 school year. Zum will provide transportation services for all special education routes.

Zum’s platform promises to optimize routes, reduce student ride times and facilitate transparent, data-driven decision making. Parents can receive real-time notifications about their child’s bus location and pickup and drop-off status. School administrators can manage, monitor and optimize transportation.

"Zum has a proven track record with recruiting and retaining high-quality drivers, implementing best-in-class equipment and technology and a commitment to safety and customer service," explains Misty Her, Unified Superintendent at Fresno. "We are excited by this new partnership and share Zum’s mission to ensure safe, reliable rides for every student in our district."

"Zum’s partnership with Fresno Unified School District signals a growing national movement for modern, safe and equitable student transportation," adds Ritu Narayan, Founder and CEO at Zum.

"Drivers are at the heart of our operation, and we take pride in having the best in the industry. We look forward to working with this outstanding school community."
