Ellison Institute of Technology opens London office to expand UK presence
he new site in St James’s Square connects EIT’s Oxford teams with partners across science, technology, and policy.
The Ellison Institute of Technology (EIT) has opened a new office in London as part of a wider expansion of its UK operations. The institute conducts interdisciplinary research across health, artificial intelligence, clean energy, and sustainable agriculture, with the goal of moving scientific discovery toward large-scale application.
Founded in Oxford, EIT operates at the intersection of science, policy, and technology. Its work brings together scientists, engineers, economists, and policymakers to develop data-driven solutions to global challenges.
In a LinkedIn post, EIT said its new office at 11–12 St James’s Square creates a base for collaboration with partners and researchers in the capital. The building once served as the home of Ada Lovelace, the mathematician widely regarded as the first computer programmer.
EIT wrote: “Yesterday we officially opened EIT’s London office at 11–12 St James’s Square, expanding our reach to the capital and creating a hub for our teams and collaborators.”
The post continued: “Number 12 carries a remarkable lineage: it was once the home of Ada Lovelace… That spirit of innovation endures. Our new space strengthens EIT’s commitment to flexible working and cross-disciplinary exchange, offering London-based talent a place to connect with colleagues and partners across science and technology.”
Expanding across Oxford and London
The London opening follows EIT’s ongoing expansion in Oxford, where it is developing a large-scale research campus within the Oxford Science Park. Designed by Foster + Partners, the new site will accommodate up to 7,000 researchers and feature purpose-built laboratories and collaboration spaces.
The Oxford campus will include 300,000 square feet of research and education facilities, with further growth planned to create a total footprint of 2 million square feet. The first phase is scheduled for completion in 2027.
