Coursera names ex-Amazon director Patrick Supanc as its new Chief Product Officer

Online learning platform Coursera has announced the appointment of Patrick Supanc as its new Chief Product Officer, effective June 2, 2025.

Supanc joins Coursera from Amazon, where he spent nearly ten years helping to scale products such as Amazon Prime, Amazon Hub and Kindle.

Supanc has also previously worked at awarding organization Pearson and learning management provider Blackboard. He holds an AB in Public and International Affairs from Princeton University and a Master of Public Policy in Political and Economic Development from Harvard Kennedy School.

"Patrick's deep expertise at the intersection of technology and education makes him an ideal leader to guide our product strategy," says Greg Hart, CEO at Coursera. "His customer-first approach and proven track record in delivering impactful solutions will be invaluable as we continue to expand our platform to meet the worldwide demand for trusted learning."

“I am honored to join Coursera at such an exciting time in its journey,” Supanc added. “Expanding access to world-class learning has never been more important, and I look forward to working alongside Coursera’s talented teams and global partners to better serve our learners and customers.”

The news comes as Coursera is expanding its catalog and strengthening its online learning platform with new AI-powered products and tools.

Last year, Coursera, in partnership with Microsoft, announced the introduction of four new entry-level Professional Certificates, aiming to equip learners with the necessary skills for careers expected to grow significantly in the coming decade.
