WorldQuant University partners with Rwandan youth village to expand access to STEM education
WorldQuant University has announced a partnership with Rwanda’s Agahozo-Shalom Youth Village to strengthen STEM learning opportunities and support pathways to global careers in data science and technology.
WorldQuant University, a U.S.-based institution offering free, online programs in data science and financial engineering, has formed a new partnership with the Agahozo-Shalom Youth Village (ASYV) in Rwanda.
The collaboration was shared on LinkedIn, where the university described the partnership as an opportunity to “expand access to advanced STEM learning and create pathways to global careers in data science and technology.”
ASYV provides holistic education for orphaned and vulnerable Rwandan youth, combining academics with personal development and community support. The school’s curriculum emphasizes computer literacy, mathematics, and science to prepare students for higher education and the modern workforce.
Supporting Rwanda’s next generation of innovators
WorldQuant University said it was “inspired by the extraordinary young minds” it will have the opportunity to work with through ASYV. The post also highlighted the resilience of students who have “overcome significant barriers to pursue their education.”
The partnership builds on the university’s mission to democratize access to world-class education, particularly in areas where opportunities in STEM and data science remain limited.
“These aren’t just talented learners—they’re some of Rwanda’s brightest, most driven young people,” the post stated. “Together, we’ll expand access to advanced STEM learning and create pathways to global careers in data science and technology.”
Founded in 2008, the Agahozo-Shalom Youth Village was established in response to the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi. Modeled after Israel’s Yemin Orde Youth Village, ASYV aims to empower young people through healing, education, and community building.
The school’s mission aligns closely with WorldQuant University’s focus on creating equitable educational access through online learning. The partnership reflects a growing trend of AI and data-focused organizations investing in education initiatives across Africa.
WorldQuant University wrote that “their potential is limitless, and we’re honored to be part of their journey.”
