Twinkl, an EdTech firm and educational publisher, has been named the 'Private Business of the Year' at the 2026 Private Business Awards.

The accolade is seen by the company as a significant step in its commitment to the six million teachers and families, who use the 1.5 million resources available on its website.

Jonathan Seaton MBE DL, CEO at Twinkl, who co-founded the company in 2010 with his wife Susie Seaton, highlighted the entire team's commitment to educational quality.

He said: “We are incredibly honoured to be named Private Business of the Year. This recognition is a testament to the dedication of every single person at Twinkl, whose tireless commitment to quality and innovation allows us to fulfil our mission to ‘help those who teach’ every day.”

“As we look ahead, this award reinforces our vision to drive educational innovation further and faster, continuing our global expansion to support even more educators, children, and parents across the world.”

Driving educational innovation and global impact

The ‘Private Business of the Year’ category celebrates businesses that demonstrate excellence across all operational dimensions. The award criteria focused on sustained financial performance, sector leadership, continuous innovation, and a clear strategic vision for sustainable growth.

Selected by an independent judging panel from over 700 nominations, across 11 competitive categories, Twinkl was recognised for its leadership position within global EdTech, delivering teacher created learning materials, digital teaching aids, and interactive learning tools used daily by educators, school leaders, and parents across the globe.

The award underscores Twinkl’s continued mission to ‘help those who teach’ while adapting rapidly to changing global classroom needs and technological advancements.

Its customers include families, private tutors, childminders, SEND specialists and senior leadership teams within schools, as well as classroom teachers.

Resources are primarily digital and downloadable, but customers can also request new resources, and/or variations of existing content, to meet their own unique needs.

Twinkl's headquarters are based in Sheffield, UK. However, it has a large global team, many of whom are either former or current educators. The content creation process involves quality control, with resources developed by teachers, enhanced by illustrators and graphic designers, and reviewed by editors.

Twinkl resources are used in more than 200 regions, with a significant presence in the UK, United States, Australia, the Middle East and Asia. The site features resources in 85 languages, with teams translating on average 600 resources a month.
